When delivering a message, never underestimate the power of your words. They are the foundation of persuasion when communicating with others and can be used to great effect if you know exactly what you want to say, and how to say it. The trick is to ensure you are using language and content that is meaningful and that individuals can relate to emotionally. Be aware, the right language can spark an agreement but that wrong language can spark an argument – so choose your words carefully!
Implementing the proper use of tone, cadence, rhythm and phrasing can create something special. However, you should ensure that the right amount of each element is included in your message. For example, if you want to be a market leader you need to be able to control the conversation with the tone that you use. However, this does not mean that you should completely dominate the conversation. Consider the message you want to get across and how it sounds to your outside audience – make sure you strike a balance between being a leader and being a dictator and remember the tone you think you are using may not be the tone picked up by the reader.
Personality is the means by which you find a connection with your audience. It is what allows you to connect with individuals and makes you stand out from the crowd. Creating a distinct identity can be a demanding task but it is one that is highly rewarding and delivers personality. If you are able to combine the right tone with the right words and the right personality you will be on your way to getting to where you want to be.
