Audit Senior – 5 month secondment at a housing association

“I completed my secondment when I was a second year CA trainee. The Finance Officer was on long term sick leave, and help was needed to reduce the backlog of processing/administration. I assisted the finance team by helping with tasks such as chasing tenant rents, processing rent payments, payroll reconciliations, issuing tenant letters, processing purchase invoices, paying suppliers and helping out in the recruitment process for a permanent member of the finance team. My assistance allowed the finance manager to focus on other tasks.”

Accountant – 6 month secondment at an independent school

“I stepped in when the team was short staffed due to long term absence and one member of staff leaving. I assisted the Finance Manager with the preparation of management accounts, VAT returns, budget, monthly reconciliations and annual accounts. I helped with clearing a backlog that was created as a result of understaffing. I also improved the payroll budgeting process by automatingExcel spreadsheets, which will save time in future years.”
