As soon as you start your traineeship at Chiene + Tait, you will be given responsibility as part of a team to deliver real projects, on behalf of clients, to key deadlines. You will never be on your own and will always find yourself with others, who can assist and offer you support.
Definitely not. We have a Social Committee that organises various opportunities for people within the firm to get to know each other – from office competitions such as bowling nights. Wii nights or quiz nights, to informal staff lunches and our formal Christmas party – there will never be a dull moment.
Generally, Chiene + Tait recruit CA trainees approximately eight months in advance of their starting date. Interviews are held in the autumn, with an August start date, the following year. We welcome applications during a set period in the year, which are all added to a pool of potential trainees to invite for interview.
We believe that during your training with us, there is no better source of support and help than your peers. With this in mind, we have created peer groups for our trainees to spend some time together, discuss what projects are taking place and to lean on each other for support.
Additionally, often senior members of our audit team, including the audit partner or manager, also take part in the peer group meetings to talk through any up and coming projects, discuss exams or training needs required by our trainees, or just provide a sounding board to chat through solutions to ongoing projects.
All our trainees are based in our Edinburgh office; however, our trainees often have to go to jobs based all around the country, which could include our London office. Trainees can often find themselves posted as far as Zurich or as close as North Berwick.
