Why Chiene + Tait
Chiene + Tait was founded in 1885, in Edinburgh, by George Todd Chiene Jnr and John Scott Tait. Mr Chiene had a family littered with prestige including family members who won mathematical prizes at The Edinburgh Academy, the first President of The Scottish Rugby Union, Chair of Surgery at Edinburgh Infirmary and Honorary Surgeon to the British Forces.
John Scott Tait came from more humble origins of cabinet makers and bakers, and rose through the ranks to become a senior partner to create the firm that we know today. Messers Chiene and Tait were widely regarded for their knowledge of accounting and commitment to furthering the education of others – a principle that is still true of our firm today.
With seven partners and over 100 staff, we are able to provide a variety of services to an extensive range of clients, ensuring our trainees are given a varied and challenging traineeship. Our firm is large enough to offer a diverse range of clients in different sectors to gain work experience, but small enough to feel that you aren’t a small fish in a big pond.
Chiene + Tait offer you a three year structured training programme, with study and exam support. All our trainees receive internal and external professional training and are given personalised career progression advice from our team.
